Great News! I don't have to do anything. Doug Ford is going to turn off the electricity!

Wonderful News.

This morning I found out that Doug Ford is going to turn off the electricity that Canada supplies to the US if tariffs are implemented.

According to a CBC news report Ford said Ontario sends energy — mostly electricity — to power 1.5 million U.S. homes in states like Michigan, Minnesota and New York.

I hope he follows through, because if he does my services may no longer be required.

Also, I think my petition has peaked at 20 signers.

Incidentally, the person before me who asked people to oppose the tariffs is now at 43 signers after two weeks.

Instead of trying to get Canadians to take this seriously, which I succeeded in getting 20 out of 38 million Canadians to do, I will instead resign myself to keeping people who care about the issue informed about the issue here on this website.

To be honest, I’m looking forward to getting out of the public eye and returning to my nice quiet, social media free, boring lifestyle.

I also have some concerns about the petition platform I am using. There was some zigzagging with the numbers over the last two days. I may as well try to wean myself off of American platforms ahead of January 20, 2025, so I will be removing the petition by midnight tonight. If anyone wants to keep in touch, reach out to me on linkedin.

If a new community space for people who care about this issue (and are willing to make sacrifices) is created, I will post about it on this site.

For anyone who is interested, this was the petition below the asterix.

On November 25, 2024, President-Elect Donald Trump threatened a 25% tariff on all Canadian exports to the United States- an economic burden that would make it impossible for many Canadian businesses to sell their products in the US.

He has stated that 25% tariffs against Canada will begin on his first day in office.

If these tariffs are implemented, I am calling on Canadians to act by strategically boycotting any 15 brands from the list of 67 brands found here.

There are some brands, that if boycotted could have a substantial impact on Canadian Jobs. These brands on the list of 67 have been chosen as brands that can be boycotted with minimal impact to Canadian Jobs.

Let us wield the most influential tool we have - our collective buying power.

These threats have been made because we are expected to behave like polite Canadians, roll over and do nothing.

Inauguration Day is January 20th, 2025.  Let us make the most of this preparation period to plan which products we will boycott.

This one time, let's not be polite while our businesses and the Canadian economy are being jeopardized. Sign this petition to show your intention to boycott 15 of the 67 products on the list if the tariffs are implemented.

Let us stand united and withhold our wallets to counter these unfair tariffs. Sign the petition today signaling your intention to sacrifice using certain products and your intention to take action.
